Ideogram 4.0

Ideogram 4.0, released June 3, 2026, is Ideogram's first open-weight text-to-image model and its most capable release to date. It is a 9.3-billion-parameter single-stream Diffusion Transformer trained from scratch, pairing a Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct text encoder with the diffusion backbone for strong prompt understanding and typography.

The release introduced structured JSON prompting, bounding-box layout control, palette control, multilingual text rendering, and native 2K generation. It ranked first among open-weight models on design leaderboards at launch. The weights are downloadable for research and self-hosting, but note the Ideogram Non-Commercial Model Agreement: commercial use requires the hosted app, API, or a separate paid license.
