About

Granite Speech 3.3 8B is IBM's first official speech-to-text model, released alongside Granite 3.3 in April 2025. It handles automatic speech recognition and automatic speech translation, built by aligning Granite 3.3 8B Instruct to speech on public corpora with a modular speech encoder plus LoRA audio adapters.

It uses a two-pass design where transcription runs first and the language model processes the text in a second explicit call, and supports multilingual speech input across English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. All weights are open under Apache 2.0.
