About
GLM-4.5-Air is the compact companion to Zhipu AI's GLM-4.5 flagship, released July 28, 2025. It is a 106B-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 12B active parameters, designed to bring GLM-4.5's agent-native capabilities - reasoning, coding, and tool use - to cheaper deployments.
Like the full model it supports hybrid thinking: a thinking mode for complex reasoning and tool use, and a non-thinking mode for fast responses. The technical report (arXiv 2508.06471) places GLM-4.5 third overall and first among open models on agentic benchmarks, with the Air variant ranking sixth overall - strong for its size class.
Honest limits: benchmark rankings are Zhipu-reported. The 'open source' framing refers to the MIT weight license; fine-tune compatibility and ecosystem tooling trail the Qwen/Llama families. Zhipu's rebrand to z.ai can confuse model naming.
