About
Gemma 2 2B is the smallest member of Google DeepMind's Gemma 2 family, announced on July 31, 2024. It is a 2.6-billion-parameter text-to-text, decoder-only model distilled from the larger Gemma 2 models, designed for CPU usage and on-device applications.
Despite its compact size, Google reported best-in-class performance for its weight class, with an LMSYS Chatbot Arena Elo score of 1126 that edges out GPT-3.5 and Mixtral 8x7B Instruct. It integrates with Keras, JAX, Hugging Face, Vertex AI, and Nvidia NIM, and is distributed as open weights under the Gemma Terms of Use.
