About
threestudio is an open-source framework for 3D content generation from text prompts, single images, or few-shot captures, built by lifting 2D text-to-image diffusion models into 3D through score distillation. One install gives working implementations of ProlificDreamer, DreamFusion, Magic3D, Zero-1-to-3, Magic123, Fantasia3D, MVDream, and Gaussian splatting pipelines, with a Gradio web UI, a Colab notebook, and Docker support for getting started quickly.
Released in April 2023, it became the reference sandbox the field used to compare text-to-3D methods, collecting over 7,000 GitHub stars and 500 commits through 2024. The code is Apache-2.0 licensed. Output quality depends on the underlying diffusion prior, and the best configs use DeepFloyd IF, which needs 20GB-plus VRAM and a license acceptance on Hugging Face.
