About
Stable LM 2, launched in January 2024, is Stability AI's family of small multilingual language models. The 1.6-billion-parameter model was trained on 2 trillion tokens across English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, and Dutch, and set state-of-the-art results for models under 2 billion parameters on the Open LLM Leaderboard at release.
A 12-billion-parameter variant followed, aimed at efficient multilingual chat and RAG workloads on widely available hardware. Stability published a full technical report with training details, and the models are released under the Apache 2.0 license.
