Stable Code
Stability AI's compact 3B code model for completion and instruction chat.
About
Stable Code is Stability AI's 3B-parameter code model line: a completion base model (Apache 2.0) and an Instruct variant for chat-style coding help. The 2.8B-parameter model runs a 16K context across 18 languages and was, at release, the strongest open model under 3B on the MultiPL benchmark (team-reported), even rivaling some 7B and 15B models. Watch the licensing split: the Instruct checkpoint sits under the Stability AI Community License, and commercial use needs a Stability AI membership. Later small coders beat it, but it remains a capable lightweight completion engine.
