Sora, previewed February 15, 2024 and released as the faster Sora Turbo product on December 9, 2024, was OpenAI's diffusion-transformer text-to-video model: up to ~20 seconds of 1080p video from text (or image/video conditioning), with storyboard, remix, extend, and blend tools, distributed through ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo, ~50 videos/mo) and Pro ($200/mo). It triggered the video-generation arms race (Google Veo, Meta Movie Gen, Runway Gen-3, Kling followed within months).
