SigLIP 2
Multilingual vision-language encoder with dense features.
About
SigLIP 2 is Google's 2025 successor to SigLIP, a family of vision-language encoders (Base through So400M) that unify several pretraining objectives — decoder loss, global-local masked prediction, aspect-ratio and resolution adaptability — into one recipe. The result is better semantic understanding, localization, and dense features than the original, and it doubles as the vision tower inside many open VLMs.
It is an encoder, not a generative model: you get embeddings and zero-shot classification, not captions or chat. Check the exact license on the Hugging Face model card before use, as Google's terms vary across model families.

- Improved over SigLIP on semantic understanding, localization, and dense-feature benchmarks (paper-reported, arXiv 2502.14786)
Provider-reported unless a source says otherwise. Benchmarks are marketing-adjacent by nature — treat them as directional.
Use cases
Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Google release, Feb 2025 (arXiv 2502.14786); paper is the primary artifact, HF org ships multiple sizes; Became the default vision tower in many open VLMs in 2025, succeeding SigLIP; Weights open; WebLI pretraining data not released; Benchmark claims are paper-reported and not independently re-verified here — metrics tier. License: Apache-2.0 per the Hugging Face model cards (verify on the card before use).
