Samsung Gauss 2
Samsung's second-generation multimodal model for Galaxy devices.
About
Samsung Gauss 2 is the second generation of Samsung's proprietary generative AI model, unveiled at the Samsung Developer Conference Korea 2024. It is a multimodal system handling language, code, and images, offered in three configurations: Compact for resource-limited on-device use, Balanced for general tasks, and Supreme, which uses mixture-of-experts for top-tier performance at lower compute cost.
Samsung claims 1.5x to 3x faster response generation than leading open-source alternatives, with support for 9 to 14 languages depending on the variant, plus programming languages via custom training techniques and tokenizers. The model powers internal tools like the code.i coding assistant, reportedly used by a majority of Samsung's DX division developers, and is slated for integration into Galaxy devices and the SmartThings ecosystem. It is a proprietary internal model with no public weights.
