Launched January 2026 (checkpoint sabiazinho-4-2026-01-06, alias sabia-4-small), Sabiazinho 4 is Maritaca AI's fast, economical model: 128K context, vision/multimodal support (image URLs and base64, OpenAI image_url-compatible), and pricing from R$1.00 per million input tokens / R$4.00 output. It is the recommended replacement for the deprecated Sabiá 2 and early Sabiá 3 checkpoints, and anchors Maritaca's smart-fallback chains (sabia-4 → sabiazinho-4) in its LangChain integration.
Limitations: the economy tier — expect weaker reasoning than Sabiá 4 and Sabiá 4 Thinking on hard tasks. Portuguese-first with English as secondary. API-only; BR-SP variant carries the ~30% regional premium.
