About
Sabiá-3 is Maritaca AI's flagship Brazilian Portuguese language model, described in the technical paper arXiv 2410.12049 from October 2024. It is specialized for Portuguese with Brazilian idioms and cultural context, positioned between GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet on reported Portuguese benchmarks while being far smaller and cheaper.
The model is proprietary and served through Maritaca's API with LangChain integration; it is not open-weight. Note that Maritaca discontinued the Sabiá 3.0 line in December 2025 in favor of Sabiá-3.1, so check the current API lineup before building on it.
