Parakeet-TDT 0.6B v2
600M-parameter open ASR that tops the HF Open ASR leaderboard.
About
Parakeet-TDT 0.6B v2 is NVIDIA's open automatic speech recognition model, released in May 2025 under the commercially permissive CC-BY-4.0 license. The 600 million parameter model combines a FastConformer encoder with a TDT decoder and was trained on the Granary dataset of roughly 120,000 hours of English audio. It topped the Hugging Face Open ASR Leaderboard at release with a 6.05 percent average word error rate and a real-time factor above 3300, transcribing an hour of audio in about a second on NVIDIA GPUs.
The model outputs punctuation, capitalization, and word-level timestamps in a single pass over audio segments up to 24 minutes long. It deploys through the NeMo toolkit and runs on as little as 2GB of RAM, with a multilingual v3 successor covering 25 European languages released later.
