OpenThaiGPT

OpenThaiGPT is an open Thai-centric large language model project that has released multiple model generations on Hugging Face. Version 1.0.0, released April 2024, shipped 7B and 13B chat models based on LLaMA 2, with more than 10,000 frequent Thai words merged into the tokenizer to speed up generation and over 1 million Thai instruction examples for fine-tuning. Version 1.5 (late 2024) moved to the Qwen2.5 family with 7B, 14B and 72B instruct models trained on over 2 million Thai instruction pairs, and later releases added a 1.6 series plus a reasoning R1 model.

The project evaluates on Thai national exam suites (A-Level, O-NET, TGAT, TPAT) where its authors report leading results among open Thai models. The checkpoints carry Apache 2.0 licensing, making OpenThaiGPT one of the most practically usable open Thai LLM families. Vendor-style benchmark claims are the project's own and should be read as such.
