OLMo 3 7B
Fully open 7B LLM: weights, data, code, and checkpoints from Ai2.
About
OLMo 3 7B is the Allen Institute of AI's November 2025 entry in the only major model family that ships truly fully open: weights, training data, code, recipes, and per-phase checkpoints. The 7B dense model carries a 65K context window (16x Olmo 2's), with Base, Think (reasoning), and Instruct variants under Apache 2.0. Ai2's Think 7B claims best-in-class status among 7B Western instruct and thinking models, and the Instruct variant competes with Qwen 2.5, Gemma 3, and Llama 3.1 at the same scale.
The honest picture: full openness comes with frontier-lab-budget trade-offs — OLMo 3-Think 32B narrows but doesn't close the gap to the best open-weight 32B models, trained on far more tokens. The 7B size caps raw capability versus larger open models, so it's a research and customization vehicle more than a turnkey answer engine. Production deployments still need their own evaluation and safety layers, as Ai2 itself warns.
