NVIDIA RTX Video
Free AI upscaling and SDR-to-HDR conversion baked into the driver — the remaster button for everyday web video.
About
RTX Video is NVIDIA's AI video enhancement suite, shipped as part of the GeForce driver rather than as a separate product. RTX Video Super Resolution launched in February 2023: using Tensor Cores, it removes blocky compression artifacts and upscales video from 360p up to 4K in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and VLC, with quality levels 1 to 4 plus an Auto mode added later. RTX Video HDR followed in January 2024, converting SDR video to HDR10 with AI. NVIDIA's own FAQ stresses that VSR is a separate technology from DLSS — it infers higher-resolution frames purely from the input video, using no game-engine data.
It is free with the driver and genuinely useful — most online video is 1080p or lower SDR, so the 'remaster button' description from coverage is fair. The constraints are real too: you need an RTX 20-series or newer GPU, Windows 10/11 64-bit, driver 530.xx or newer, and the video must be below your monitor's native resolution; HDR needs an HDR10 display with Windows HDR on. There are no published independent benchmarks, and NVIDIA's efficiency claims (up to 30% less power at max quality in the 2025 update) are provider-reported.

Use cases
Trust score — 9/10
Scored 9/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: official NVIDIA RTX Video FAQ (nvidia.custhelp.com/a_id/5448) confirms VSR (Feb 2023), HDR (Jan 2024), requirements (RTX 20+, driver 530.xx+, Win10/11 64-bit), quality levels, and the DLSS distinction; launch announcement on nvidia.com. Strengths: shipped, free, genuinely improves everyday video, broad browser/player support. Docked for: (1) Windows-only and RTX-hardware-gated; (2) no published independent benchmarks; (3) NVIDIA's efficiency claims are provider-reported. License: proprietary driver feature.
