NVIDIA Cosmos
Open-weight world foundation models for robotics and autonomous vehicle development.
About
NVIDIA Cosmos is a family of open-weight world models for physical AI. Predict generates physics-based video from text, image, or video input; Transfer renders controllable video from structured inputs like simulation data or segmentation maps; Reason adds chain-of-thought understanding of video scenes in natural language. These models exist to produce synthetic training data for robots and autonomous vehicles, not cinematic clips. The weights are free to download, but you need serious GPU power and must credit NVIDIA under its custom Open Model License, which is not Apache 2.0.

Use cases
Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Read NVIDIA CES 2025 launch press release (Jan 6, 2025) and the March 2025 major-release announcement; License confirmed as NVIDIA Open Model License from the HuggingFace license text (custom license, not Apache 2.0); 7B and 14B parameter variants confirmed via nvidia-cosmos repo documentation; Early adopters named by NVIDIA include 1X, Figure AI, Uber, Waabi, and XPENG. License: NVIDIA Open Model License: custom source-available license requiring attribution ('Built on NVIDIA Cosmos'); NOT Apache 2.0..
