About

Nova Act is Amazon's model and SDK for building AI agents that act inside web browsers, launched as a research preview in March 2025 by the Amazon AGI Lab. It breaks workflows into reliable atomic steps, clicking buttons, filling forms, and handling interface elements like date pickers and pop-ups that trip up general-purpose agents, and it integrates with tools like Playwright.

The system is trained specifically for browser automation rather than bolting tools onto a general LLM, which Amazon says pushes reliability above 90 percent on early customer workloads. Early benchmarks claimed advantages over OpenAI's computer-use agent and Claude on web interaction tasks. It reached general availability in late 2025 with AWS integrations and a no-code playground, and it powers components of Amazon's Alexa+ upgrade. Access is through the Nova Act SDK and AWS services, not open weights.
