About
Muse Image is Meta Superintelligence Labs' first image generation model, launched July 7, 2026. It replaces third-party image technology Meta previously licensed from Midjourney and Black Forest Labs, and it builds on the Muse Spark language model for reasoning-conditioned prompt understanding: the model plans layouts and visual references before drawing.
It is live in the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp, with more than 30 AI effects, direct-manipulation editing, multi-photo blending, QR code generation, and legible text rendering. No parameter counts, benchmarks, or developer API pricing have been disclosed. The launch drew scrutiny over an opt-out Instagram @-mention likeness feature, which Meta removed on July 10, 2026 after feedback.
