About

Kolors 2.0 is Kuaishou's image generation model, unveiled April 15, 2025 at the Kling AI 'From Vision to Screen' 2.0 launch event alongside the Kling 2.0 video model. It improves on the original Kolors in prompt adherence, cinematic visual quality, and artistic style representation, and it inherits the family's core advantage: training on billions of Chinese-language data points, making it one of the strongest models available for Chinese text rendering in images.

Note the licensing split: Kolors 1.0 was open-sourced by Kuaishou in 2024, but 2.0 is served through the Kling platform API — treat 2.0 as API-only. Kuaishou's claim that both 2.0 models ranked first in its internal multi-metric evaluation is provider-reported with no independent corroboration found. The Kling platform reported 22M+ global users and 15,000+ developer API integrations at launch.

Launch event and model facts confirmed via press-release coverage (MarketMinute, OpenPR) with consistent dates and specs. Kept at metrics tier because: (1) every performance claim is Kuaishou-reported with zero independent benchmarks found; (2) 2.0 is API-only despite 1.0's open-source history — easy to confuse the two; (3) coverage is largely syndicated press releases rather than independent testing.
