About
Jais 13B, released August 2023, was the world's highest-quality Arabic large language model at launch. Developed by G42's Inception with MBZUAI and Cerebras, it was trained from scratch on 395 billion tokens (116B Arabic, 279B English) on the Condor Galaxy supercomputer, giving over 400 million Arabic speakers a first-class generative AI model.
Released under Apache 2.0 with base and chat variants, Jais led open models on Arabic evaluation suites at release. It spawned a full family including 30B and 70B versions and a Jais Chat application, and remains the reference point for Arabic-centric LLM development.
