About

Lyria is Google DeepMind's music generation line, and version 3 brought it to hundreds of millions of people: launched February 18, 2026 inside the Gemini app, Lyria 3 turns text or image prompts into 30-second songs with lyrics, vocals and AI-generated cover art at 48kHz, with every track watermarked by SynthID and copyright filters blocking artist-voice or lyric-copying prompts. Lyria 3 Pro followed on March 25, 2026, stretching tracks to three minutes with verse-chorus structure across the Gemini app, Google Vids, Flow Music, Vertex AI and the Gemini API.

The current full-song model is Lyria 3.5, announced September 4, 2026, focused on more expressive vocals and richer arrangements. API pricing is per song — $0.08 for a full lyria-3.5 song, $0.04 for a 30-second lyria-3-clip-preview clip — with no free tier and no batch discounts; consumer generation inside the Gemini app is free within unpublished limits. Google has not published any comparative evaluation numbers, so quality claims rest on listening, not leaderboards. Flow Music (Google Labs' rebuilt music platform) is where the power-user tooling lives.

Trust score — 8/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 8/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Google DeepMind release lineage — Lyria 3 Feb 18, 2026 (Gemini app, 30s tracks, SynthID), 3 Pro Mar 25, 2026 (3-min), 3.5 Sep 4, 2026 (API + app); published per-song API pricing ($0.08/$0.04, no free tier) via the Gemini API pricing page. Closed weights. Release facts corroborated across the Google blog announcement coverage, AICraftJournal's pricing check, and Product Hunt launch data. Strengths: unmatched distribution (Gemini's user base), real vocal+lyric generation, responsible-AI watermarking. Docked for: (1) zero published benchmarks or eval numbers — quality is unverifiable beyond listening; (2) closed model with per-generation billing and no free API tier.
