About
Falcon3-1B is the smallest tier of the Falcon 3 family from the UAE's Technology Innovation Institute, released in December 2024 alongside the rest of the Falcon3 line. At one billion parameters it targets edge devices, browsers, and low-cost inference where the larger Falcon3 sizes cannot fit.
The Falcon 3 generation was a quality-focused refresh of the Falcon line with stronger multilingual support and instruction-following than Falcon 2. The 1B variant keeps that recipe in a footprint small enough for on-device deployment.
Falcon3 models are distributed under the TII Falcon License 2.0, which is based on Apache 2.0 with an acceptable-use policy attached. Commercial users should review the exact terms, as they differ from plain Apache 2.0.
