EXAONE-3.5-7.8B-Instruct

EXAONE-3.5-7.8B-Instruct is the general-purpose 7.8B instruction-tuned model from LG AI Research's EXAONE 3.5 series, released on December 9, 2024 alongside 2.4B and 32B siblings. It adds retrieval-augmented generation over real-time web search results and uploaded documents, plus multi-step reasoning, to reduce hallucinations.

LG released all three EXAONE 3.5 models as open source to support the AI research ecosystem, and the 7.8B model topped vendor-run evaluations on usability, long-text processing, coding, and math among global open models at release. The license is LG's custom EXAONE license geared toward research use, so commercial terms need checking.
