Claude Sonnet 4.6
Mid-tier Claude model with near-flagship intelligence at Sonnet pricing.
About
Claude Sonnet 4.6 was released by Anthropic on February 17, 2026 as the successor to Sonnet 4.5. It is a full upgrade across coding, computer use, long-context reasoning, agent planning, knowledge work, and design, with a 1M-token context window in beta. Anthropic positions it as delivering Opus-class performance on many real-world tasks: internal testing showed users preferred it over Sonnet 4.5 about 70% of the time in Claude Code, and over the more powerful Opus 4.5 about 59% of the time in certain workflows.
Pricing held steady at $3/$15 per million tokens, the same as Sonnet 4.5, which made the launch a repricing event for agent-heavy enterprise deployments. It became the default model in claude.ai and Claude Cowork, and is the current default workhorse for coding-agent and tool-use workloads. Benchmark claims (e.g. 72.5% on OSWorld-Verified) are vendor-reported.
