Baichuan 2 13B is a bilingual (Chinese/English) language model released by Baichuan Intelligence — the startup founded by Sogou's Wang Xiaochuan — on September 6, 2023. Trained on 2.6 trillion tokens with a 4K context window, it shipped in Base and Chat variants plus a 4-bit quantized build, and was one of the strongest Chinese-capable open models of the 2023 wave.

License nuance: it is distributed under the Baichuan 2 Community License, which allows free commercial use, but it is not an OSI-approved open-source license, so enterprises with strict licensing policies should review the terms.
