About

Athene-V2 is Nexusflow's open 72-billion-parameter model suite, released in November 2024, built by applying targeted RLHF post-training on top of Qwen-2.5-72B-Instruct rather than scaling further. It ships as two variants: Athene-V2-Chat, which Nexusflow reports as on par with GPT-4o across benchmarks and beating it in Chatbot Arena's hard and math categories, and Athene-V2-Agent, tuned for function calling and agentic tool use.

Weights are on Hugging Face with a 32K context window, but under the Nexusflow Research License rather than an OSI-approved license, so commercial terms need checking. At release it was briefly the top open model on Chatbot Arena, a notable result for a post-training-focused effort.
