About

WrongStack is an MIT-licensed AI coding agent that reads your code, edits files, runs commands, and reasons through bugs while keeping every permission in your hands. It runs as a terminal REPL, a full-screen TUI, and a browser UI, with built-in tools for reading, writing, editing, and deleting files, directory exploration, shell execution, and web fetching. It adds long-term memory through a SAGE knowledge graph, slash commands, skills, plugins, and an OAuth-based subscription option.

The honest picture: it is a young project in a crowded field, so the ecosystem of skills and plugins is far smaller than Cline or Aider, and documentation is still catching up. But for developers who want a transparent, self-controlled agent stack, the open codebase is the point.

What it can do

  • Terminal REPL, full-screen TUI, and browser UI
  • Explicit permission control over every tool
  • SAGE long-term memory with knowledge graph
  • Slash commands, skills, and plugin system
  • MIT-licensed and fully self-hostable

Setup

Clone the repo or install the CLI package with your Node 22 package manager, then run wrongstack (or wstack) in your project directory.

Prerequisites

Node 22.19 or newer. An LLM API key or subscription for the models it calls.
