Wiz

Cloud-native application protection platform — acquired by Google for $32B in 2025.

About

Wiz is a cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) that scans infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes clusters, and code pipelines across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud from a single agentless deployment. Its graph-based engine maps relationships between cloud resources to surface the attack paths that actually lead to breaches, rather than drowning teams in isolated findings.

Google announced the all-cash $32 billion acquisition on March 18, 2025 — its largest ever — after Wiz famously walked away from a $23 billion offer in 2024. The deal closed in March 2026, with Wiz continuing to operate under its own brand and serve all major clouds. Wiz crossed $1 billion in ARR in 2025, with roughly half of the Fortune 100 as customers. The four founders previously built Adallom (sold to Microsoft) and ran Microsoft's cloud security group.

Limitations: pricing is enterprise-grade and opaque; the multi-cloud neutrality Google promised will be tested over time as the platform integrates deeper into Google Cloud; and agentless scanning, while easy to deploy, can lag behind runtime agents on the freshest in-memory threats.

What it can do

  • Agentless multi-cloud scanning
  • Attack-path graph analysis
  • Container and Kubernetes security
  • AI-driven threat detection and investigation
  • Code pipeline (IaC) security
