Wispr Flow
System wide AI dictation that turns speech into polished text anywhere.
About
Wispr Flow is a system wide dictation layer from San Francisco startup Wispr AI that treats the keyboard as optional. Press a hotkey, speak, and your words land as punctuated, cleaned up text in whatever app you are using, from Gmail and Notion to VS Code and Slack. The trick is real time AI editing rather than raw transcription: self corrections get resolved, filler words disappear, and Command Mode lets you select text and speak an editing instruction like make this more professional. It supports over 100 languages with a custom dictionary for your names and terms.
The free plan gives about 2,000 dictation words a week on desktop, with Pro at $15 a month or $12 billed annually. The company raised over $30 million led by Menlo Ventures and reportedly hit 1,900 plus Product Hunt upvotes at launch. Trade offs are real: processing is cloud only, so there is no offline mode, and context sent to the cloud may concern privacy sensitive teams. SOC 2 Type I is claimed with Type II in progress, per third party reviews.
