What The Diff

AI GitHub app that writes plain-English summaries of your pull requests automatically.

About

What The Diff is a GitHub app that automatically writes a summary of the changes in a pull request, even when the commit messages say nothing more useful than wip or fixes. Trained on large code datasets and supporting nearly all programming languages, it analyzes each PR and explains what changed in plain English, which saves reviewers from reconstructing intent from raw diffs and lets non-technical stakeholders follow along.

The honest picture: an automated summary can miss the why behind a change, which is often the most important thing a reviewer needs. It speeds up triage but does not replace reading the diff on anything that touches sensitive logic.

What it can do

  • Automatic plain-English PR summaries
  • Works with non-descriptive commit messages
  • Near-universal language support
  • Instant summaries on every pull request
  • Free tier for getting started
