WebMind AI

Open-source Chrome extension with in-browser RAG over web pages.

About

WebMind AI is an open-source Chrome extension that scrapes page content and runs a client-side RAG pipeline — semantic chunking with TF-IDF indexing — to ground summaries and Q&A in the actual page.

It offers one-click actions like explain, key points, and fact extraction, plus a multi-turn chat over page context, powered by your Gemini API key.

Being a community project, setup is more hands-on than commercial alternatives, but the code is auditable and the RAG approach reduces hallucinations.

What it can do

  • Clean DOM content scraping
  • In-browser RAG (chunking + TF-IDF retrieval)
  • One-click summary and key-point actions
  • Multi-turn Q&A over page context
  • Gemini 1.5/2.0 Flash support
  • Dark mode UI

Setup

  1. Clone the repository from GitHub.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  3. Click 'Load unpacked' and select the project folder.
  4. Add your Gemini API key in the extension options.
  5. Open any article and use quick actions or chat.

Prerequisites

Chrome or Chromium browser; a Google Gemini API key; Node.js to build (see repo README).
