About

Voodle was Seattle's attempt to build short async video for the workplace. Founded in 2020 by CEO Forest Key, it launched that summer as a mobile-first 'TikTok for the enterprise': 60-second videos shared with the right people instead of another Zoom call, with web, iOS and Android apps plus Slack, Salesforce and HubSpot integrations. It raised $6 million led by Madrona Venture Group and Vulcan Capital, with M12, Cisco Investments and Hearst Ventures participating, and claimed traction with over 10,000 users testing the app with their teams.

It didn't survive. Key's own postmortem (January 2023) says the rise of team messaging inside Microsoft Teams, Slack and Google Meet made third-party video friction too high, and the minimal APIs those platforms offered to outsiders made meaningful integration impossible. The team pivoted through one-to-many 'me-casting' workflows and a late experiment with Web3 token-gated creator spaces before shuttering in 2022.

What it can do

  • 60-second async video capture and sharing
  • No-account-required video links (My Voodles)
  • Slack, Salesforce and HubSpot integrations
  • AI-powered video search
  • View and engagement analytics

Trust score — 5/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 5/10 (TIER metrics, metrics-v1). Evidence: 2020 founding, $6M raise (Madrona, Vulcan, M12, Cisco, Hearst) and 2022 shutdown all documented by the founder and trade press. Strengths: unusually candid postmortem with real lessons on platform friction; pioneered no-account video sharing. Docked for: (1) product is dead — nothing to adopt; (2) never reached meaningful scale (10k testers); (3) late Web3 pivot diluted the original thesis. License: defunct proprietary product; kept in the catalog as a reference entry.
