Vocaloid
Yamaha's AI singing synthesizer; VOCALOID6 turns melody and lyrics into vocals.
About
Vocaloid is Yamaha's singing voice synthesizer software, first released in 2003. The current engine, VOCALOID6, is built on VOCALOID:AI technology that generates highly expressive, natural-sounding singing voices from a user-input melody and lyrics, effectively turning a computer into a vocalist.
VOCALOID6 ships with editing tools for accents, vibrato, and rhythmic feel, one-click vocal doubling and harmony parts, and the VOCALO CHANGER feature that replicates a user's own singing style with a voicebank. A single voicebank can sing lyrics in a mixture of Japanese, English, and Chinese.
Yamaha announced Vocaloid 7 on October 9, 2026 with a planned release of November 11, 2026; as of this writing VOCALOID6 remains the current shipping engine. The software is sold as a bundle including voicebanks and is a mainstay of the Vocaloid creator community behind virtual singers such as Hatsune Miku.
