Val Town
Social serverless platform for writing and running TypeScript in the browser.
About
Val Town is a social platform for writing, running, and sharing small TypeScript programs called vals, entirely in the browser. Vals can be APIs, scheduled cron jobs, email automations, or websites, with imports from npm and Deno modules working without installation. The social layer (forking, remixing, and discovering vals) makes it feel like a code playground crossed with an app store.
Founded by Steve Krouse, the company raised a $5.5M seed round led by Accel. It has found a niche with developers and AI agent builders who need somewhere to run small scripts without managing servers, often described as Zapier for developers.
Limitations to note: it is best suited to small workloads rather than heavy production systems; the platform is still small-team operated; and pricing and limits can change as the product matures.
