About

v0 is Vercel's AI interface generator: describe a component, page, or full app in plain language and it produces production-style React, Next.js, and Tailwind code you can visually edit, sync to GitHub, and deploy to Vercel with a production URL. It moved to v0.app in late 2025 and runs on a token-based credit model (February 2026) with selectable model tiers from v0 Mini to v0 Max Fast, plus Design Mode for nudging results without re-prompting and Figma import on paid plans.

The honest picture: it is frontend-first — auth, databases, and backend logic still rely on outside tools, and the stack lock-in is real (React/Next.js/Vercel or bust). Token pricing is hard to predict: light iterations are cheap, but heavy agentic build sessions on the top model can burn $2–5 each. Free and Plus plans also allow prompts to train v0's models; training opt-out by default only arrives at the Business tier.

What it can do

  • Prompt-to-React/Next.js UI generation
  • Visual Design Mode editing without re-prompting
  • GitHub sync with branching and pull requests
  • One-click deploy to Vercel
  • Figma import (paid plans)
  • v0 API for programmatic generation

Setup

Sign in at v0.app with a Vercel account (GitHub, GitLab, or email magic link also work). The free tier includes $5 of monthly credits and 7 messages per day.

Prerequisites

A Vercel account; best value if you already deploy on Vercel and build with React/Next.js.
