Traycer

Planning-first AI coding layer that turns intent into verified specs before any code is written.

About

Traycer is an AI-powered coding assistant that takes a planning-first approach to software development. Instead of generating code immediately, it starts with interactive Q&A to clarify vague intent, then builds progressive plan artifacts: a problem statement, a detailed plan with mermaid diagrams, a design preview with HTML wireframes, and finally execution tickets handed off to an external coding agent.

It layers on top of the developer's existing tools rather than replacing them. Traycer runs as a VS Code extension and works alongside Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and GitHub Copilot, dispatching approved plans for code generation and then running verification passes that check the implementation against the spec. Parallel planners can work on multiple tasks at once, and Task Chaining preserves context across related work.

What it can do

  • Interactive clarification Q&A before planning
  • Progressive plan artifacts with diagrams and wireframes
  • One-click handoff of tickets to external coding agents
  • Automated verification of generated code against specs
  • Parallel planners and cross-task context chaining

Setup

Install the Traycer VS Code extension, connect your preferred coding agent (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar), and start a planning session from a prompt or GitHub issue.
