About

Tongyi Lingma is Alibaba Cloud's AI programming assistant, driven by the Qwen family of models including Qwen2.5-Coder and Qwen3. It ships both as an IDE plugin for mainstream editors and as a standalone Tongyi Lingma AI IDE launched in May 2025, which adds long-term memory, inline suggestion prediction, and conversational task execution, plus access to over 3,000 MCP services.

The assistant covers code completion and optimization, debugging help, code snippet search, and batch unit-test generation. Alibaba reports plugin downloads above 15 million, with tens of thousands of enterprises (including FAW Group and NIO) adopting it. In March 2026 Alibaba consolidated its AI branding under Qianwen (Qwen), so documentation and branding for Lingma may appear under the Qianwen name; the tool itself remains Alibaba Cloud's flagship developer AI offering, with its strongest ecosystem integration inside Alibaba Cloud's own services.
