Terrateam
Terraform GitOps via GitHub Actions — plan on PRs, apply from a comment.
About
Terrateam is an open-source Terraform GitOps tool that runs natively in GitHub Actions. Open a PR touching Terraform files and Terrateam automatically comments with the terraform plan output; apply changes by commenting terrateam apply, with optional auto-merge on success. No separate SaaS control plane to manage — the workflow lives in your repo's Actions.
It supports monorepo layouts with per-directory applies, drift detection, and locking to prevent concurrent applies. The trade-off versus hosted alternatives (Spacelift, env0) is operational: you own the Actions runners and state backend, but you also keep full control and avoid per-seat pricing. A 5-minute demo repo lets you try the full flow without cloud credentials.
What it can do
- Automatic terraform plan comments on PRs
- Comment-driven apply (`terrateam apply`)
- Monorepo-aware per-directory workflows
- Drift detection and apply locking
- Runs entirely in your GitHub Actions
Setup
Install the Terrateam GitHub App, add the workflow to your repo, configure the state backend.
Prerequisites
A GitHub repo with Terraform; a state backend (S3, GCS, Terraform Cloud).
