Teleport
Identity-based infrastructure access for humans, machines, and AI agents.
About
Teleport (legally Gravitational Inc.) provides identity-based access to infrastructure: SSH servers, Kubernetes clusters, databases, web apps, and cloud consoles, all behind short-lived certificates instead of shared secrets, VPNs, or standing privileges. The open-source core handles connectivity, authentication, authorization, and audit in one control plane, with session recording and playback for compliance.
The company raised a $110M Series C in 2022 led by Bessemer at a valuation north of $1.1B. In 2026 it repositioned as the AI Infrastructure Identity Company and introduced Beams, a trusted runtime where each AI agent runs in an isolated Firecracker VM with its own cryptographic identity and just-in-time permissions. Linux Desktop support followed in August 2026. Advanced features such as device trust and some compliance tooling are enterprise-gated rather than in the open-source edition.
What it can do
- Certificate-based SSH, Kubernetes, database, and app access
- Beams: isolated Firecracker VMs with identity for AI agents
- Session recording, audit logs, and access requests
- SSO integration with GitHub, Okta, Google, and Active Directory
Setup
Deploy the Teleport cluster (single binary, Docker, or Helm), enroll nodes with join tokens, and connect with tsh or the web UI using your SSO identity provider.
Prerequisites
