Tailscale Skills
Official Tailscale skill: teach coding agents to manage tailnets, exit nodes, and tsnet apps.
About
Tailscale Skills is the official agent skill from Tailscale, published at github.com/tailscale/tailscale-skill. It gives coding agents deep knowledge of the Tailscale platform: setting up exit nodes, subnet routers, MagicDNS, the Kubernetes operator, tsnet-based applications, and Aperture for LLM API governance. It works with Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, OpenAI Codex, Pi, and any agent following the Agent Skills standard, and installs with npx skills add.
The skill is a public alpha release: Tailscale explicitly says it is not yet supported and asks users not to file support tickets for it. Treat its output as a starting point and confirm configuration against the canonical Tailscale docs, since syntax evolves. Limitation: alpha status, and implicit invocation depends on the model's judgment, so explicit /tailscale invocation is more reliable.
What it can do
- Agent guidance for tailnet setup and device management
- Exit node, subnet router, and MagicDNS recipes
- tsnet and Kubernetes operator development help
- Aperture LLM API governance wiring
Setup
