About

TagTog was a web-based annotation framework built for biomedical NLP: gene mentions, ontology concepts, and relations in full-text articles. It grew out of a BioCreative collaboration with FlyBase (Cejuela et al., 2014), where assisted curation was shown to beat manual annotation on speed. Its feature set included overlapping and nested spans, entity normalization against reference dictionaries, active learning, PubMed import, OCR pipeline integration, and export to JSON, CoNLL, and Brat formats, with cloud SaaS and on-prem Docker deployment. The product's web presence has lapsed: tagtog.com now serves a domain-parking page and tagtog.net is unreachable (both verified), leaving third-party vendor listings as the only remaining product descriptions. With no live official site verifiable, the honest classification is retired.

What it can do

  • Overlapping spans, nested entities, and typed relations
  • Entity normalization to reference dictionaries
  • Active learning with user feedback loops
  • Native PubMed import and OCR integrations
  • Export to JSON, CoNLL, and Brat formats
  • Cloud SaaS or on-prem Docker deployment

Setup

No longer available; the official domains have lapsed.

Prerequisites
