SwarmUI
A modular Stable Diffusion web UI focused on making power features accessible: easy install, model management, and backend flexibility.
About
SwarmUI (formerly StableSwarmUI) is a modular web interface for Stable Diffusion image generation, built with an explicit motivation: the most powerful features should be usable, not just present. It wraps generation backends (including ComfyUI as a backend option) behind a polished UI with easy installation, a model and LoRA manager, a queue system, and sensible defaults, while still exposing the advanced parameters power users expect.
Installation is the selling point: a Windows batch file, a Linux shell script, a macOS launcher, or Docker, with Google Colab and RunPod/Vast.ai options for cloud GPUs, which is notably friendlier than the manual Python-venv dance of older SD UIs. At 4,600+ stars and MIT it is a solid pick for anyone who wants local image generation without assembling the stack themselves. The trade-off versus ComfyUI is control: node-graph users will find SwarmUI's streamlined UI less expressive, and as a .NET application its contributor pool is smaller than the Python-centric alternatives.
What it can do
- Modular Stable Diffusion web UI with a usability-first design
- One-command installers for Windows, Linux, macOS, plus Docker and Colab
- Backend flexibility, including ComfyUI as a generation backend
- Built-in model, LoRA, and embedding management
- Generation queue and session management
- Cloud GPU guides for RunPod and Vast.ai
Setup
- Windows: download and run launch-windows.bat (or the alternate manual install). Linux: run launch-linux.sh. macOS: run launch-macos.sh. Docker images are also provided.
- On first launch, the installer fetches dependencies and lets you pick a backend.
- Open the local web UI, download models from the built-in manager, and generate.
- No local GPU? Use the Google Colab notebook or a RunPod/Vast.ai template from the README.
Prerequisites
A local GPU helps a lot (NVIDIA recommended); otherwise use the Colab or cloud-GPU options; .NET runtime is fetched by the launchers.

Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: 4,669 GitHub stars (GitHub API), MIT, pushed Oct 15 2026; the README documents the per-OS installers, the backend model, and the cloud GPU options; the Motivations section states the usability-first design. Strengths: the friendliest local SD install story, genuinely modular, active. Docked for: (1) less expressive than ComfyUI's node graphs for power users; (2) .NET stack means a smaller contributor pool than Python UIs; (3) project renamed once (StableSwarmUI to SwarmUI).
