SurveyMonkey
The original online survey platform, now with AI analysis, CX, and market-research suites.
About
SurveyMonkey is the best-known name in online surveys. It launched in 1999 as a simple web survey tool, went public in 2018, and rebranded its parent company to Momentive in 2021 to cover a wider portfolio that includes GetFeedback and market-research products. In 2023 a consortium led by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group took the company private in a deal valued at about $1.5 billion, then reverted the corporate brand to SurveyMonkey under CEO Eric Johnson. The platform now spans classic surveys, customer-experience feedback, brand tracking, and AI-assisted analysis and summaries. A free plan exists but caps responses and features; paid plans scale by seats, responses, and integrations.

Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 9/10
Scored 9/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: founding timeline, 2021 Momentive rebrand, and the $1.5B STG take-private (completed June 2023, brand reverted to SurveyMonkey) all documented by Nasdaq-listed press releases and Research Live. Strengths: category-defining brand with massive template library, credible AI analysis layer, and deep enterprise integrations. Docked for: (1) fully proprietary with a tight free plan; (2) pricing scales steeply for high response volumes. License: proprietary.
