Twilio to acquire $104.1M Oct 2025

About

Stytch built an API-first authentication platform around passwordless login: magic links, one-time passcodes, WebAuthn passkeys, and device fingerprinting for fraud, with B2B organization modeling, SSO, and SCIM for SaaS products. Its developer experience and transparent pricing made it a favorite alternative to widget-centric auth vendors.

The company raised a $90M Series B in November 2021 led by Coatue at a $1B valuation after developer adoption grew roughly 10x in four months. In October 2025 Twilio announced it would acquire Stytch for $104.1M in cash, closing mid-November 2025, to build what the companies call the intelligent identity layer for the internet. The site remains Stytch-branded post-acquisition, but it is no longer an independent company.

Stytch also pivoted toward AI-agent identity before the acquisition: letting an app act as an OAuth provider for agents and MCP servers, issuing scoped revocable tokens and detecting agentic traffic. Buyers should weigh acquisition uncertainty around future product direction and pricing against the platform's strong developer experience.
