Stripe Official Plugin Skills
Stripe's official Claude plugin: best practices, docs, and upgrade skills.
About
Stripe ships an official plugin (stripe@claude-plugins-official for Claude Code, stripe@openai-curated for Codex) bundling seven skills: stripe-best-practices, stripe-docs, stripe-apps, stripe-projects, stripe-directory, connect-recommend, and upgrade-stripe. It also wires the Stripe MCP server and adds /test-cards and /explain-error commands.
Being vendor-maintained means the guidance tracks the actual API, but you are trusting Stripe's own framing of its products — independent sources are still worth checking for pricing and architecture decisions.
What it can do
- Stripe API best-practices guidance
- Checkout vs PaymentIntents vs SetupIntents selection
- Webhook setup and signature verification
- Stripe Connect marketplace patterns
- API upgrade assistance
Setup
- Claude Code: claude plugin install stripe@claude-plugins-official (requires the claude-plugins-official marketplace)
- Codex: codex plugin add stripe@openai-curated
- Cursor: run /add-plugin stripe inside the agent
- Other agents: npx skills add https://docs.stripe.com (manual, no auto-update)
- Authenticate the Stripe MCP with a restricted API key (rk_...) per Stripe's MCP docs
Prerequisites
A Stripe account; restricted API key for the MCP connection
