About

Snyk Code is Snyk's static application security testing product, built on the DeepCode AI engine (a hybrid of symbolic AI and machine learning). It scans code in real time inside VS Code, JetBrains, or GitHub — results in seconds rather than CI-cycle hours — detecting OWASP Top 10 issues, API misuse, null dereferences, race conditions, buffer overruns, and source-to-sink data-flow problems across 19+ languages. AI-generated fix suggestions come with every finding, and it pairs with Snyk's dependency, container, and IaC scanners. Pricing starts at $25/dev/month for teams up to 10, with a free tier of 100 SAST tests/month.

The honest picture: it does security and only security — no code smells, complexity, or maintainability analysis, so you still need a quality tool alongside it. Per-developer pricing scales linearly and Enterprise is opaque. The ML engine was trained mostly on modern open-source code and can be noisy on legacy codebases with unusual patterns.

What it can do

  • Real-time in-IDE vulnerability scanning
  • DeepCode AI hybrid symbolic + ML analysis
  • OWASP Top 10 and CWE coverage with fix suggestions
  • PR checks comparing before/after issue counts
  • Pairs with Snyk Open Source, Container, and IaC scanners
  • Free tier with 100 SAST tests/month
