About

Sierra is an enterprise AI company founded in February 2024 by Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and chairman of OpenAI, and Clay Bavor, a longtime Google executive. It builds autonomous AI agents for customer service on a platform it calls Agent OS, which supports both no-code and programmatic agent development. The pitch is that these agents handle complex, multi-step interactions like mortgage applications, insurance claims and returns, not just password resets.

The company's growth has been historic for enterprise software: it hit $100 million in ARR within 21 months of launch, reached $150 million by early 2026, and raised a $350 million round in September 2025 at a $10 billion valuation, followed by roughly $950 million in May 2026 at about a $15.8 billion valuation. Customers include SoFi, Ramp, Brex, Prudential, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Rocket Mortgage and Nordstrom, whose voice agent Nora went live in five weeks according to the company.

Sierra charges on an outcomes basis, billing for completed work rather than seats, which aligns its incentives with deflection rates. The reference results it publishes are striking, but they are company-reported: Nordstrom, Singtel and Cigna deployments are presented as case studies, and independent verification of resolution rates at any given customer requires a pilot. For large enterprises rethinking contact-center economics, it is the reference vendor in the category.

What it can do

  • Autonomous AI agents for chat and voice customer service
  • Agent OS with no-code and programmatic development
  • Multilingual customer interactions
  • Backend action execution (returns, claims, authentication)
  • Seamless escalation to human agents
  • Outcomes-based pricing on completed work

Setup

  1. Engage Sierra's enterprise sales team for scoping.
  2. Start with a design-partner style pilot on one high-volume use case.
  3. Build the agent in Agent OS using no-code tools or programmatic APIs.
  4. Connect backend systems for actions like returns, claims and authentication.
  5. Tune, measure resolution rates, then expand across channels including voice.

Prerequisites

Enterprise contract (sales-led); backend systems the agent can act against.

/10 trustVerified

Scored 9/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: $100M ARR in 21 months (company blog via parlournews.com, Nov 2025); $350M round at $10B (CNBC via webpronews.com); ~$950M round at ~$15.8B (CNBC via pymnts.com, May 2026); customers incl. SoFi, Ramp, Brex, Prudential, Cigna per multiple outlets. Strengths: unprecedented enterprise traction, founder pedigree, outcomes-based pricing aligns incentives. Docked for: (1) resolution-rate claims are company-reported; (2) steep valuation multiple (100x ARR) embeds execution risk. License: proprietary commercial SaaS.
