About

Sarvam AI is a Bengaluru-based startup founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar (both formerly with AI4Bharat at IIT Madras) building sovereign AI for India. Its platform covers chat, translation, speech-to-text (Saaras), text-to-speech (Bulbul v2, supporting 11 Indian languages with authentic accents and voice fine-tuning), and document OCR, with India-first tokenizers and pricing.

Its conversational voice agent platform, Sarvam Samvaad, powers multilingual customer interactions for enterprises such as Tata Capital and was reported to drive about 80% of the company's revenue. The company raised a $300M Series B in June 2026 at a $1.5B valuation, was selected under India's IndiaAI Mission to build the country's first indigenous foundation model with government GPU support, and reportedly held late-2026 talks for a further $250-300M raise.

Limitations: valuation and fundraise figures come from press reports and were unconfirmed at the time of writing; voice quality for a specific language or dialect should be evaluated with native speakers before production use.
