Redis MCP Server

Official Redis MCP server: natural-language access to Redis data for agents.

Visit official site →

About

The official Redis MCP server (redis/mcp-redis). It exposes Redis operations to agents — key inspection, search via RediSearch, and data-structure operations — installable via uvx or pip install redis-mcp-server.

Requires a reachable Redis server. As with any database MCP server, scope the Redis credentials to the minimum needed: agents with write access can destroy data.

What it can do

  • Redis key/data-structure operations for agents
  • RediSearch-powered natural-language queries
  • uvx and pip install paths verified
  • Works with Redis Stack modules

Setup

  1. Run a Redis server (Docker or cloud).
  2. Add to your MCP client config: command uvx, args ["redis-mcp-server"] (or pip install redis-mcp-server), with your Redis URL in env.
  3. Restart the client and verify with a read command.

Prerequisites

An MCP-compatible client; a reachable Redis server.

Use cases

dataautomation

Works with

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier). Official Redis project, MIT, actively pushed (Oct 2026), install paths verified in the README. But it is young (~634 stars, 6 releases/12mo) and hands agents direct data-store access — credential scoping is the operator's job. Thinner independent coverage than the reference servers, so metrics tier.
